Rev. Steve Lindsay - Lead Pastor

Steve worked in sales and investment management before he became a Christian at age 29. Feeling God's call to pursue pastoral ministry, he studied for his Masters of Divinity at Tyndale Seminary and Knox College. Steve served as senior pastor for six and one-half years in Teeswater and Kinlough. He has been serving at Cheyne since 1997.


Steve has a passion for seeing people come to Christ and grow in a vibrant relationship with Him through LIFE groups. 


He is married to Susan and has two sons, Donald and David. He enjoys skiing with his sons, chocolate, and the Montreal Canadiens. 

Robin Burley - CHILDREN & YOUTH  Pastor

Robin worked in social work for 8 years after graduating high school. She was called by God to pursue her passion for youth ministry and spent 11 years in the Maritimes serving as a child and youth pastor while going to Seminary. Robin graduated from Acadia Divinity College with an M. Div and has been called to serve the Lord as children and youth pastor at Cheyne. Robin grew up at Cheyne church and is thankful to the church family for helping her grow in her faith and support her as she follows Jesus.

Robin loves the Lord and is passionate about seeing children and youth become followers of Jesus.


She loves going to the movies, spending time with friends and family and walking her dog Mopsy!


Marc Johnson -Family and Young Adult Pastor  

Marc was born and raised in Stoney Creek and attended Cheyne for 22 years. He has many found memories growing up in the church and all the youth programs. For the past 18 years, Marc has enjoyed working as an Educational Assistant with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board and as a Personal Support Worker.


Marc and his wife Bobbi have 3 daughters, Allison, Nicole and Kelsey. They enjoy traveling, going to movies, concerts and sporting events (Go Leafs Go). 


The past 17 summers, Marc has served as the Business Manager at Oneida Baptist Camp. Spending the summers on the shores of Lake Erie serving God with his family has been a personal highlight for him. He's excited to be coming "home" and bringing the gifts God has blessed him to serve with our church family. 

Sylvia Pauls - Church Administrator

Sylvia has been with Cheyne since 2014. Her background in church administration is extensive and includes experience in communications editing, global and local outreach initiatives.


Her passion is loving her neighbours and extending hospitality in a variety of ways.  Syl and her husband Steve owned a bed and breakfast inn and tearoom for 8 years in Beaverton, Ontario where they were heavily involved in their local community.


Syl enjoys spending time with friends, volunteering with her Therapy Visitation dog, Hershey, renovating homes and developing her new found micro-talent as an artist. Hershey loves people too and will give you a warm welcome when you stop by the office.

Lynda Smith

Lynda worked for many years in retail and is now our worship leader (10 years) at our second service (11:15) and leads our Sanctuary Choir, whose mission statement is:  Leading our church family into the presence of God each Sunday, through worship in song with hymns, songs and anthems. Lynda has always been passionate about music whether listening or singing. She has had voice training, sang with the Sweet Adelines group, and for many years, with  Cheyne’s ladies double trio “Reflection”, 

worship teams and Sanctuary Choir. 


Married for 45 years, Lynda and Wayne have three children and seven grandchildren. They have attended Cheyne since June 1978 and reside in Stoney Creek .


Lynda is a diehard Hamilton Tiger Cat fan, and takes every opportunity to cheer them on.  She also enjoys watching her grandchildren’s baseball, soccer, hockey, karate, dancing and whatever else they may be up to. 




Phillip Lee

Phillip was hired at Cheyne April 1969. He has been playing music since the age of 5. He plays the organ/piano for 3 churches locally every Sunday (Anglican, United & Presbyterian) and is involved in many events throughout the year including playing organ/piano/tuba and singing and conducting the choir.  In 2006 he had a wonderful opportunity to record a CD at Catherdral of Christ the King which has a 4 manual pipe organ. He also play tuba in Hamilton & Burlington Concert Bands as well as the Brass Alliance.


Phillip married Faye in 1976 . They have 3 sons now married (Rob/Holly, Devon/ Ashley and Cameron/Michelle) and 2 grandsons ( Connor & Cohen) .
