Cheyne Community Outreach Ministry

As the body of Christ in the world, we are committed to helping those in need. We believe poverty demands a response and we express God’s message of love, mercy and hope by addressing basic human needs (food, clothing and shelter) in ways that respect the dignity and worth of every person.

From international disaster relief to immediate needs in our local community, our Social Action team works diligently on many projects throughout the year which provide opportunities to be the physical hands and feet of Jesus.

Pen Pal Program

We are so happy that you are interested in our new pen pal program to help us share God's love and light with each other, even though we are apart. The isolation and loneliness caused by public health measures during the pandemic has impacted all of us. But, all of us have the power within to share and help others as God loves us. We hope this opportunity provides the basis for lasting friendships based on faith and love of God. Keep scrolling to find out all about this amazing initiative!

How does it work?

The Cheyne Church Pen Pal Program is intended for our church families and community. Parents of participants under the age of 18 years old are expected to understand these guidelines and are responsible for the content of their child's communication. Caregivers are encouraged to write the letter for younger participants who may add art of their own.

The purpose of this program, in addition to growing in our relationship with God, is to write correspondence using traditional postal service, stationary and pens. No emails and no phone calls. Respect for your pen pal's privacy is mandatory and address information is to be kept confidential at all times.

Please make a commitment to your pen pal, agreeing jointly how long you will write to each other and how often. Do your very best to meet this commitment regularly. Initial letters should be mailed within the week of signing up. A six month commitment is suggested.

We are pleased to provide kits with stationary, envelopes, stamps and a few other fun items for those who need them upon request.

Tuna Tuesdays

Hey Cheyne Community! We need your help! Tuna Tuesday is happening every week for the rest of this year and we are hoping you will assist us in battling homelessness and hunger, right here in Hamilton. The church will have a drop box all day on Tuesdays for contactless donations. We are also happy to pick up donations from your porch! Give us a call to arrange a pick up at 905-664-6043. All donations go to the Men's Street Ministry.

Please stay tuned for all of our upcoming social justice efforts and more ways to become engaged and help those who need it most!
