Impacting our Community and our World!

Jesus commanded us to "Go and make disciples of all nations...". We, at Cheyne, are committed to carrying out this great commission both in our local community and around the world. We exercise this responsibility by inviting the community to children's, youth and senior programs which include sharing the good news of God's kingdom and by supporting other organizations with the same purpose both locally and abroad. Links to some of the organizations that we support financially are listed below. In the past Cheyne has taken groups around the world to carry out the call to make disciples and give help to communities that need it. Read about our most recent trip to the Dominican Republic Below!

Cariboo House Churches

In the Cariboo House Churches, we will look to the Holy Spirit to orchestrate the celebration of Jesus, our honoured host. When we gather we will feast together on the Word and at the table, savouring each morsel as we grow and spur one another on in discipleship. As the Holy Spirit leads, we will worship in our hearts and bodies as we sing, pray and give ourselves completely to the Lord. We will welcome all including the stranger, the poor and lonely, the disenfranchised, anticipating the wedding feast of the Kingdom of God. We will spend time sharing our lives and enjoying one another’s presence. The servants at the party will help us learn and grow to celebrate more and more deeply. We will regularly go out to the remote areas of the Cariboo Chilcotin telling others the good news and inviting them in so they can also meet the master of the celebration and enter the joy of Jesus’ presence.

The Faith Mission In Canada

The Faith Mission is an interdenominational, evangelical and evangelistic mission that was started to evangelize rural areas. It continues to do this by working alongside smaller churches, engaging in all kinds of evangelism including; running Vacation Bible Schools, establishing weekly children’s clubs, summer camps, preaching evangelistic messages, personal visiting, or organizing a bible study. We currently help support Graham and Melodie Ghent in their mission work in southern Ontario.

Inner City Outreach Ministry - Don & Carole McVicar

To see both word and deed, evangelism and mercy, as a means to the single end of the spread of the Kingdom of God. The Ministry of mercy is not just a means to the end of evangelism, word and deed are equally necessary. The Inner City Outreach Ministry strives to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the families in the Inner City of Hamilton. Thirty seven years ago the ministry began with a boys basketball club. The first night we had three leaders and three boys. Today we have over 300 young people & adults registered in a variety of weekly programs and with approximately 40 volunteers. The wide variety of programs range from recreational activities to craft nights, bible studies to family dinners. We have programs for children ages 6 to 24. Over the years more than 2,500 children have enrolled in the programs.

There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore, I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land. Deuteronomy 15:11

Wycliffe Bible Translators - Sean and Lezlie Allison

Wycliffe serves minority language groups worldwide by fostering an understanding of God's Word through Bible translation, while nurturing literacy, education and stronger communities. Wycliffe’s vision is a world where translated Scriptures lead to transformed lives among people of all languages. Wycliffe’s mission is ending Bible poverty by facilitating the translation of God’s Word among minority language communities worldwide.

Sean and Lezlie work with Wycliffe Bible Translators. They serve in three capacities: (1) Since 1997, they have been involved in a translation project for a people group in northern Cameroon, with the goal of making the scriptures available to them so that the Living Word of God can transform their lives; (2) in 2012, Sean began teaching linguistics at Wycliffe Canada's training center for translators (Canada Institute of Linguistics) in Langley, BC; and (3) Sean serves as a linguistic consultant for other translators in Cameroon, helping them make sense of the structures of the languages in which they are translating God's Word.

Dominican Republic 2019

In March of 2019, Cheyne took a group of 15 individuals to Sosua in the Dominican Republic on a week long missions trip. Our church, along with two other churches in the area, Knox Presbyterian Church, and Trinity Presbyterian Church partnered with the Samaritan Foundation. The purpose of the foundation is to build housing for people in the DR who need it. Our team worked on building 2 homes and assisted painting several others that were already built. They also took part in helping local ministries in the community (ie. Sports, activities, schools, orphanages, feeding programs, and hospitals). Here's a quick look at the team members and a recap on the trip!
